When the Voices Stop...Pull Out a Pen

So many thoughts and pictures were racing through my subconscious mind as I slept. I struggled to acknowledge each of them. Ridiculousness. A sure sign you need a rest.
I've been wasting too much life in the news and struggling  with personal issues. It has begun to manifest into turmoil in what is supposed to be, the restful places. Without warning, my eyes popped open and I felt an empty space.  Darkness, nothing, emptiness and I panicked.  A roar of silence that filled my ears with pressure. You know what I'm saying. So quiet you can hear blood flowing.
For a brief second I wondered if I had lost my memory. I could feel a throbbing in a corner of my brain like the quick kick of an impeding migraine.  And I released my breath and pulled in sanity. I began to search the attic of my memory.  Kneeling under heavy beams and digging through trunks to find my life. Tossing things out, over my shoulders, behind my back, all willy - nilly,  helter-skelter and filling the empty space. I found me.

The 4 F's-Friends,Making Friends and Being a Friend on Facebook

FaceBook Fail

I'm finding it really hard to understand the value of having so many 'friends' or likes on Facebook and such.  As a writer I doubt the ability and value and the ability of having 4000 or more friends in making you a great author. How can they even keep up with you when they have the same number of friends? And with Facebook if you don't interact with all of the people you only get the feeds from the few you can squeeze into your busy day.Oh, and that works both ways.

You can write such nauseating crap even toilet paper disintegrates at your words and have followers out the wazoo. But are these 'friends' real. And I'm not just saying this because I don't have many followers or friends for that matter. Such is life in my imagined world where I'm a well known author and in real life.Will they purchase the work you've sweat blood on the keyboards to produce or are they just your friend to help them tally up their own numbers? I used to be amazed at how many friends we had in common until I realized they were finagled from my friends lists.

So, I guess my question is does the amount of people on your page mean you have a good platform or sales possibility or does it just mean you have a lot of numbers?

Rejection for Some

If starting the New Year with four rejections in two days is not a reason to get on the bike and pedal harder, I don't know what is. Writing the greatest novel is hard work, continuing to write when being rejected is priceless.

No amount of money in the world could take the place of believing in yourself. Its a new year and rejection will be my fuel for motivation. I move on and work on other things. Check out excerpts from  The Fishing Trip on my wade-in publishing website and my character interviews at In The Chair. I will not quit. I will be Charlie Brown and walk around with my bare boned Christmas tree in denial (of rejections) and anticipation. I will improve and this year find the agent that has been waiting for my manuscript to hit his/her desk  or email file. My tree shall bloom and be decorated with accolades.

VISITING & LEARNING FROM OTHERS

I like to travel and since my car has decided to quit on the job I took a blog trip. Most of the time I visit old friends, maybe say a word or two or just read-in on the conversations.Some of the blogs are about writing (the majority) others are about beautiful (real) homes, businesses, and family.  I have posted some of the addresses on the right.
